Greenless Pictures ABDUCTED for Summer 2008 48-hour competition

The weekend of May 22...  you know, INDIANA JONES WEEKENDZ1!!11!!...  yeah, that one...  Greenless Pictures (me) teamed up with Production Aubduction (Kelli and Allegra) for the Summer 2008 Tucson 48-Hour Shootout at The Loft.  This was the fourth time I had worked on a 'shootout' film, but only the second time that I wasn't the driving force behind the production.  No, this time Kelli and Allegra were very eager to jump in and get their feet wet - completing most of the pre-production while I was out of town.  Oh yeah, did I mention that about 7 hours after we got our criteria for making the film I was on a plane heading to Hollywood to play guitar with Weezer?  That was fun.

After we got our assignment we all headed over to Pizza Hut to start writing.  We had to incorporate a plastic monkey-shaped dinner plate, a character named Karen Beasley (office omg) and the line of dialog, "I have dreams about what I am supposed to do."

For some reason I immediately wanted to base the story around a character that I had previously come up with, a psychic that only has powers while he's sleeping, and Kelli was immediately fixed on producing a film with a cult in it.  Oh yeah...  I forgot to mention the genre we drew:  horror.  Probably makes a lil more sense now, huh?  Anyways, we kinda came to a nice compromise:  we made a movie about a psychic that gets caught up on the wrong end of a vampire cult, Sugar Cookie.  Super fun.  Lots of bloood.  Heavy metal.  Corny lyrics like "insanity! murder!"

The film screened at The Loft Cinema on Thursday June 12th, but sadly, didn't bring home any of the prizes.  No, this year in a bizarre turn of events Team Thomas finally took home the big prize for their film entitled Planet of the Rapes.  The movie was very funny, though not worthy of ALL of the awards that it won (there were obvious superior acting and 'elements' talents) but the movie made the biggest impact both during and after the screening (see TFM's Summer TV edition at TucsonFilmmaker.com for the full story!).
